Established in Leeds in November 1993 by the two founding partners, John Steadman and Jonathan Brierley. Our overriding ambition was to develop long standing and dependable relationships with our client base. We wanted to develop a clear strategy on all aspects of Property Investment as well as offering a personal service.
John is a Chartered Surveyor and cofounding partner of Steadman Brierley, having worked in Leeds with Jonathan since 1987.
John has focused on commercial property investment for virtually his entire career which now extends to over 35 years working nationwide. He started his Commercial Property career at Collier Stewart Newiss in the late 70s becoming a Director initially working in retail agency before moving on to the investment/ valuation and property finance departments. During this time he has concluded sales and purchases in every sector of the market acting for a wide range of clients ranging from individual investors on a one to one basis to debt funded property companies and major UK and offshore institutions including Schroders, CBREGI, AXA, Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management.
Following the property recession that started in 2008/9 John has placed considerable emphasis on structured development funding transactions on behalf of major developers and UK institutions. His experience allows a flexible and innovative approach to complex real estate transactions when required.
John is married with 3 sons and has a keen interest in Sport particularly Rugby Union, as well as outdoor pursuits including ornithology and fishing.
Qualified in 1986 from Sheffield City Polytechnic & spent 5 years in London with Clive Lewis and Partners before joining Stewart Newiss in Leeds and Co-founding Steadman Brierley in 1993.
Jonathan specialises in all sectors of commercial investment acting for institutions, property companies and private investors on a nationwide basis.
Principle interest is acquisition and disposal of investment property including development funding and provision of 3rd party finance required in the purchase of property.
After 6 years at the Leeds office of Colliers Stewart Newiss, Tom went on to join John & Jonathan in the formation of Steadman Brierley in 1993. He specialises in all aspects of property agency and development as well as providing professional advice on rent reviews / lease renewals, dispute resolution and valuation matters.
Tom has been a Member of the RICS since 1991 & an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 1993.
